| Certainty |
There are many statistics
quoted which illustrate how few of us actually get round
to making a Will. It is argued that only a small proportion
of the population need to make a Will for tax planning
purposes but this argument misses the point! We all need
to make Wills to be certain that the people we want to
benefit actually do so.
Your Will could be quite straightforward but it is one
of the most important documents you will ever sign. The
wording of your Will must be very precise and this is
why it is worth using the services of a specialist, like
Professional Wills, to prepare it for you. If the words
are not clear or the document is not signed and witnessed
correctly, it may be wholly or partly invalid. An invalid
Will can result in expensive legal action after your death
so it is important to get it absolutely right. |
| Intestacy |
| If you die without leaving
a valid Will you are said to have died Intestate. If
you have made a Will and this has not been completed
correctly it will have no effect on your death and the
Intestacy rules will apply. This will be the same as
if you had not left a Will.
The problem with intestacy is that it is difficult to
undo if there are disagreements in the family. It can
also be very difficult, time consuming and as a result
expensive, to trace all the heirs, or the persons entitled
to share an estate.
